Instagram Agent Skill is thirteen Claude skills for one Instagram account, open source under MIT. I read through the setup guide, and one line sold me: it writes, you post.
Nothing gets posted, commented or sent for you. Bots that do that break Instagram's rules and get accounts blocked. So every skill ends with a block you copy, and you do the last step yourself. I like that. It keeps you in the loop.
What you need
Claude Code, which comes with Claude Pro. Python 3, only for the five small tools, and there's nothing to pip install. And about ten minutes to write your voice file. No signup, no API key, nothing to connect.
If you don't have Claude Code, you can paste a single SKILL.md at the top of a chat and it runs as a mode. You lose the Python tools though, and those are most of the point.
Install
Paste the repo link into Claude Code and say: "Install this skill, then confirm /ig-reel works." That's the easy way. If you'd rather read the files first, clone the repo and copy the ig-* folders into ~/.claude/skills/. You can also install it as a plugin, or copy the folders into a project's .claude/skills/ to keep it to that project.
If /ig-reel isn't found, close and reopen Claude Code once.
Teach it your voice
This step decides whether any of it is good. Every skill reads one file, voice.md, and it asks who you talk to ("founders under 30", not "everyone"), what you sound like, a few positions some of your audience disagrees with, what's off limits, real numbers you can use, and your call to action.
The fastest way is to hand Claude three of your own reels or captions and ask it to write the file. Skip this and everything sounds like nobody.
The commands
/ig-reel gives you three hooks from 26 formulas, each scored, then the script, the on-screen text and a timed beat sheet. /ig-caption lints a caption and shows the 125 characters the feed displays before "... more". /ig-carousel does the cover, the slide copy and the 1080x1350 files. /ig-story plans your day's story sequence.
/ig-profile scores your profile out of 100 on a 12-part rubric and rewrites it, worst parts first. /ig-plan lays out your week and 10 accounts to engage with. /ig-human strips em dashes and slop words out of a draft. There's also /ig-comment, /ig-reply, /ig-dm, /ig-repurpose and /ig-audit.
The one worth the install
/ig-viral ranks posts by views divided by that account's own median. A 2M-follower account getting 400K views is a quiet Tuesday. A small account with a 10.7K median getting 412K views is at 38.4x, and that's the one to study. Above 3x counts as a signal.
You pick six to twelve accounts. It looks at them at human speed, in your own browser, and never logs in or asks for a password. Then it rewrites the working formulas as hooks in your voice. The guide says to copy the formula and never the video, and that's decent advice for anything, not only Instagram.
Under the hood
Five plain Python tools: hook scoring, beat timing, caption linting, a humanizer with a detector, and the outlier maths. No network, nothing uploaded. They're why this is more than a pile of prompts. The guide is upfront that they're heuristics. A low hook score means look again, and a high one isn't a promise.
Your first ten minutes
Paste the link into Claude Code and ask it to install. Have it write voice.md from three of your posts. Then run /ig-viral and use /ig-reel on what it finds.
